Organization :

National University of Singapore

Design Idea :

“Rebound” is an exercise unit used on bed that prevents muscle wasting suffered by hospitalized patients. It utilizes elastic bands toa versatile exercise system that can strengthen multiple muscle groups. Leveraging on the structure of the hospital bed, “Rebound” is a low cost, portable and easy to use exercise unit.
An in-built digital counter paired with a mobile application records patients’ rehabilitation progress. “Rebound” provides a target-oriented exercise regime to engage and motivate patients while also streamlining the manual logging process of patients’ records for physiotherapists, reducing their professional workload.

Instant Relief

Design Team :

JASION CHEN, MT YE, JINBO CAI, ZHIPENG LIN, YIANLIANG WU, JIANSEN SU, XUEYU ZHANG, YIKANG DAI, JIAXIN CAI

Organization :

GuangDong University of Technology

Design Idea :

In recent years, more and more accidents have happened at sea. Because sea rescue operations are difficult, the concern then is how to reduce the harm to victims before rescue teams arrive on the scene. In situation like this, every second is critical. Often, unnecessary deaths happen because of limited rescue measures and the fights between panic crowds. “Instant Relief” enables passengers climb down the airbag, which includes an area for the elderly and children, and help to rescue more people when shipwreck happens.

Bronze Award

sea burial+

Design Team :

Raymond Hon

Organization :

National University of Singapore

Design Idea :

“Sea burial+” is a sea burial system that consists of a virtual columbarium, which exists in the form of a mobile application and a water-soluble urn that spins while sinking.

With hydrodynamics design, the urn spins while sinking and make it stay on its trajectory until it reaches the bottom. This enables the family to record the location where the sea burial is conducted, and upload the information to the virtual columbarium along with the particulars of the deceased.

The information can be retrieved and this allows the families to be sea buried at the same location in the future.
