Definition of “Competition Entry”:

Design entries submitted for the LITE-ON Award must be the original work of contestants.

Entry Qualifications:

Copying, counterfeiting, or plagiarizing is strictly forbidden. LITE-ON reserves the right to disqualify any work thus identified, evaluated by the judging panel (by the preliminary round panel or by the final round panel, as appropriate), and substantiated as having been copied, counterfeited or plagiarized, regardless of what stage of the competition that work has reached. Contestants will bear all legal responsibility for any consequences that may result.

LITE-ON reserves the right to disqualify any work found to have plagiarism or other inappropriate issues at any time. LITE-ON reserves the right to recover all award cash, trophies, and award certificates. Competitors shall bear all associated legal responsibilities.

Policies Regarding Suspected Copying, Counterfeiting, or Plagiarism:

LITE-ON respects the professional evaluation of the preliminary and final round judging panels. Accordingly, LITE-ON will take action against any entry deemed to have been copied, counterfeited, or plagiarized. LITE-ON reserves the right to disqualify any work found to have plagiarism or other inappropriate issues at any time. LITE-ON reserves the right to recover all award cash, trophies, and award certificates. Competitors shall bear all associated legal responsibilities.

Intellectual Property Rights:

Designers retain intellectual property rights for their entries. They are, however, responsible for the registration of such rights. LITE-ON reserves precedence in acquiring intellectual property rights to finalists’ designs, within a period of two years following the competition. Finalists wishing to sell intellectual property rights to a third party within that two year period must first notify LITE-ON, which reserves the right to acquire those rights at the same price offered by the third party.

Other Notes:

With regard to images, text, mock-ups, and their associated intellectual property rights, LITE-ON reserves the right to publicly exhibit, enter into international competitions, promote, and publish selected entries, based on its capacity as competition organizer. The ownership of mock-ups belongs to LITE-ON Technology Corp.

LITE-ON reserves the right to modify or supplement these competition guidelines at any time.
